For a Netflix show set in France, it’s interesting how Emily In Paris seems to hold a tight grip on the idea of monogamous relationships. Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) gets carried away by her flirting with the charismatic chef, Gabriel, who, the whole time throughout their flirtation, is often entangled in another relationship leaving Emily confused and frustrated.

Season 1
Season 1, Episode 4: Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) meets Camille (Camille Razat) by chance, and they quickly become friends. After Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) helps Emily with a work-related issue, she impulsively kisses him, only to later discover that Camille is Gabriel’s girlfriend. Around this time, Emily decides to break up with her Chicago boyfriend.
Season 1, Episode 5: Emily and Camille grow closer, and although Emily and Gabriel agreed to forget about their kiss, they both admit they have feelings for one another.
Season 1, Episode 6: Emily begins dating Thomas, a move that annoys Gabriel.
Season 1, Episode 7: Emily and Gabriel kiss again during a wild night out, and they decide it’s best to stop spending time together.
Season 1, Episode 8: Emily tries to escape Gabriel and Camille, but Camille still considers Emily a close friend and asks Emily’s firm to protect interests of her family-owned company. Camille tries to flirt with another man, but after the party she admits she is still in love with the chef. At the chateau, Gabriel and Camille bicker, and Emily sleeps with Camille’s underage brother.
Season 1, Episode 10: Camille and Gabriel argue over his decision to move to Normandy, which seems to end their relationship. On what was supposed to be Gabriel’s last night in Paris, Emily kisses him again, and they sleep together. Although they agree not to pursue a relationship out of respect for Camille, Gabriel’s plans change, and he stays in Paris, leading to an awkward situation.
Season 2
Season 2, Episode 1: Emily keeps her involvement with Gabriel a secret from Camille.
Season 2, Episode 2: Emily feels guilty and decides to help Gabriel and Camille reconcile. Camille flirts with another man but admits to Emily that she still loves Gabriel.
Season 2, Episode 3: Emily refuses to accept that she is in love with Gabriel and tries to mend his relationship with Camille. Season 2, Episode 4: Emily and Gabriel share a flirty moment while cooking leeks, but Emily insists that Gabriel should tell Camille that their night together meant nothing. She writes an apology and tries to make amends, but Camille rejects the offer.
Season 2, Episode 5: Emily meets Alfie but kisses Gabriel. Camille decides to forgive Emily, and the two friends agree not to date Gabriel. However, this breaks Gabriel’s heart when Emily rejects him at the party.
Season 2, Episode 6: The three manage to get along as friends, and Emily decides to pursue a relationship with Alfie.

Season 3, Episode 9: Gabriel sobered up and realized that he needed to forge ahead with Camille. He decides to earn a Michelin star. Emily finds him the perfect place to make a proposal, but Camille proposes to him first. At this time, Alfie comes to Paris and works at his friend’s restaurant.
Season 3, Episode 10 Emily tries to persuade Camille to confess everything to Gabriel. Gabriel kisses Emily on the hand, which Camille witnesses, prompting her to suggest that she and Gabriel marry on the spot. But during her vows, Camille reveals that she and Emily had made a pact not to date Gabriel because she believes Emily and Gabriel have been in love all along, leaving Alfie heartbroken. She leaves, and Gabriel informs Emily that Camille is pregnant.
Season 4
Season 4, Episode 1: Emily’s love life goes viral on TikTok, and Alfie is not returning her calls. They begin to reconcile until Emily learns from Gabriel that Camille is missing.
Season 4, Episode 2: Emily finds out that Camille is in Greece with Sofia and reveals the affair to a stunned Gabriel. Later, Sofia contacts Emily in a panic as Camille has gone missing in Greece. Luckily, Camille enables location sharing with Emily who finds her and brings her back to Paris. There, they find Sofia and Gabriel together in his restaurant. Camille and Gabriel decide to remain friends and co-parent while Camille pursues her relationship with Sofia.
Season 4, Episode 3: At a masked ball, Emily flirts with both Gabriel and Alfie. She ultimately decides to be with Gabriel.
Season 4, Episode 4: Emily and Gabriel finally become a couple, but with Camille and Sofia living with Gabriel, finding time alone is difficult. Eventually, Sofia and Camille move out of Gabriel’s apartment and into their own place within the same building.
Season 4, Episode 5: Meanwhile, Sofia suspects that possibly, Camille and Gabriel still have feelings toward each other. Tensions rise between Camille and Sofia over various issues, leading Sofia to return to Greece. Meanwhile, Emily and Gabriel enjoy a romantic night out. Camille discovers she’s not pregnant but keeps this information from both Emily and Gabriel.
