But last month, their lives took a chilling turn — until Taylor Swift made it all better. The pop star met two girls who survived a stabbing just before one of her Eras Tour shows in London over the weekend, at Swift-themed yoga and dance class. Sami Foster — the mother of Mae Watkins and her siblings, Lily, 13 Cameron (age unspecified) and Skyler.orthwell — took to social media over the weekend to share photos from Mae’s meeting with Swift citing an important lyric from Swift’s song “Cardigan” off her Folklore album.
In a sweet hug that was caught on camera, Swift warmly embraced Hope and Autumn Foster while wearing her “Lover” bodysuit from the show; both girls were clad in Red-branded T-shirts with bars of some related slogans. The rest of the Foster family had the same time with Swift (see above) Foster posted her thanks in a TikTok post to Swift’s “Enchanted” off Speak Now, saying “[Thank you] to @Taylor Swift and her mum for making the night so magical for us all. Last night & always — [Thank you] for bringing Hope and Autumn joy.”
Further afield, the deaths of three girls aged 6-9 at a Swift-inspired mass stabbing in Southport just last month have added to fears for their safety. Eight other children and two adults were also hurt in the incident on 29 July. A charge sheet shows that the teen, Axel Rudakubana is charged with three counts murder and 10 counts attempted murder as well and one count of possession of a weapon.
The next day, Taylor Swift posted her heartache on Instagram, after news of the tragedy broke. Taking to her Instagram Story, she added: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock, The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
